A woman has been charged with arson after a fire gutted a house south of Brisbane, where police stood guard overnight.
Police said a 38-year-old woman was charged this morning and investigators were still at the scene of the house fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
Investigators were scouring through rubble at the Eagleby house in Stoten St, in an effort to determine the cause.
Police guarded the single-storey brick home after the fire ripped through it just after 9pm.
Firefighters took more than an hour to put out the flames and neighbours said a woman, who rented the property, was not at home at the time.
Those at the scene said they were surprised there was nobody at home but police have confirmed the resident is safe.
