From Pop Dickerson, Billy Ross, Glenn Stump in the 1990s to Ben Thompson in the early 2000s and more modern stars like Cameron ‘Trigger’ Tragardh, Braydon Hobbs, Todd Blanchfield and many more in the men’s competition.
While the women’s league has also been star-studded over the years with talents like Jess Bibby, Julie Stringer, Donna Rinaldi and in later years WNBL players such as Abby Bishop and Kelly Wilson.
Not only has the Queensland state league seen some of the best players feature on court but some of the best teams as well.
The last two ABA National Championship men’s titles were won by Queensland teams (Rockhampton and Cairns) with the Sunshine Coast also claiming a banner in 1997.
Townsville also won the last two national championships in the women’s with Southern Districts also winning one in 1999.
