WATCH: Students fight on street

Disturbing footage of high school students fighting at a shopping centre, while wearing school uniforms, has emerged online.

The video of three Redcliffe State High School students involved in a physical fight — where one girl was stuck multiple times in the head — appeared on social media before it was removed earlier this week.

The video shows several Redcliffe State High School students at a supermarket, when one of three female students attacks another.

The girl can be seen striking the other student multiple times before pushing her to the ground and repeatedly striking her in the head while a third female student watches.

An adult then appears and breaks up the fight.

The ugly incident occurred on March 23, outside of school hours, at a local shopping centre.

A Queensland Education spokesperson said Redcliffe State High School did not tolerate violence or anti-social behaviour.

“Any situation that threatens the safety and wellbeing of students, staff or others in our school communities is treated extremely seriously, and dealt with as a matter of priority in line with the school’s Student Code of Conduct.

“Redcliffe SHS has a range of proactive programs to prevent bullying and build resilience – including a ‘Respect’ program implemented across all year levels.

“The department encourages any students, parents and carers to report any cases of bullying or misconduct to their school principal in the first instance, or their closest Department of Education regional office.’’

Life Ed Queensland CEO, Michael Fawsitt, said the advent of mobile phone and social media meant such incidents now often had long-lasting impacts on children.

“It’s so important that we teach young people about respectful relationships in the first place to prevent bullying and violence, and also help them understand the repercussions of video sharing and how it can impact on them and their peers,” Mr Fawsitt said.

“When a dispute or inappropriate comments are shared online, it becomes permanent and can have long-term detrimental effects on young people’s mental wellbeing.”

Police said they were not investigating the incident.
