Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard Tagaloa lost control of his Holden Commodore while travelling north on Kingston Rd at Kingston about 3.50pm, with police arriving about 15 minutes later.
The court heard there was “extensive damage to the front and side of the vehicle” after Tagaloa drifted across the centre line near the intersection of Marshall Rd, hitting a rocky embankment and sliding before coming to rest on a footpath.
Tagaloa was trapped inside the vehicle and required extrication by paramedics and QFES officers before he was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, with police noting his “glassy eyes, slurred speech and a strong smell of liquor”.
An analysis of Tagaloa revealed he had a BAC of 0.259.
His car was written off.
The court heard he had “little recollection of events and can’t even explain why he was driving”.
Magistrate Clare Kelly said it was fortunate Tagaloa survived the incident.
He was fined $1500 and disqualified from driving for 18 months.
