Data from the Bureau of Meteorology suggests Springfield's autumn temperatures are rising.

The hottest autumn day is around 36 degrees - two degrees warmer than 50 years ago.

Small changes in our climate, like we're seeing around Logan, can impact ocean currents and wind patterns.

Did you know?

Excess heat created by a warming climate is absorbed largely by our oceans.

In fact, since 2010, southeast Australia and Tasmania have experienced eight out of the 10 warmest years for sea-surface temperatures.

Ocean warming has all sorts of impacts - it can cause sea level rise, coral bleaching and coastal erosion.

Resident Ashleigh Kate noticed similar changes in Greenbank's autumn climate.

"Summer temperatures of 30 degrees or above seem to start earlier and last for longer each year," she said.

"I used to spend each summer at the beach but due to the significant increase in heat I find myself going in late spring and early autumn instead.

"Bushfires also seem to be occurring more frequently at disastrous levels."
