BALLISTIC Beer Co. is now open at Springfield Central.

It’s the third venue for the Queensland owned and operated craft brewery following on from West End and Salisbury.

Ballistic fitted out the old Springfield Central Tavern site in Springfield Education City in eight weeks ahead of its opening this week.

It comes complete with the installation of an 800-litre brewery that will focus on brewing a wide variety of specialty beers.

It will also featuring a 350-seat venue, function spaces, a beer garden, specialty takeaways, acoustic live music, full bar and 18 independent craft beers.

It will employ around 30 full and part time staff primarily from the Greater Springfield area.

Bar manager Wade Curtis said the Springfield venue would incorporate the best of Ballistic’s existing two operations.

“In a way, it’s not different at all. In another way it’s very similar. We’ve taken the best bits of both of our first two bars and the lessons learnt to create a brewpub with all the best bits,” he said.

“The kitchen and full bar range which we have tried and proven from the West End Bar and coupled it with the open-plan community feel of Salisbury.”

Even before it opened, Mr Curtis said the venue had had a huge amount of interest.

“We’ve been blown away by the response. It’s almost every five minutes that we have another inquiry for a booking or a function,” he said.

Mr Curtis said the brewpub would cater for everyone from local businesses, their staff and clients, to families with kids.

“And of course for craft beer lovers. We want to create a place where everyone can come down and have a really enjoyable time in an environment which is relaxing for all,” he said.

There will also be a range of options locals might not have seen before.

“We have Mex Hot Choc Chilli Stout, and our Twang sour range is really unique as well with our most recent flavours including Red Papaya, Mulberry and Feijoa. We also make a mean cocktail with it,” he said.

“The most unusual beers are the ones we haven’t come up with yet. We don’t know our most unusual as of yet. We’ll start taking suggestions very soon!”

Mr Curtis said Springfield’s own Springfield Pilsner is available in Ballistic venues, and is expected to be available more widely soon.

“We hope to expand it to more bottle shops in the Greater Springfield area to make it more accessible to everyone,” he said.
