No.15. Josiah Harrison-Leaunoa (Terrace)
A big, tall fullback whose positional play in gale force conditions was uncanny. Nice selective kicking game in the wind and a big frame which helped keep BSHS’s many ball runners at arm’s length from the tryline
No.14. Lewis Mene (ACGS)
Mene’s off the ball efforts played its part in pressuring TSS’s dangerous back division whose counter attack was somewhat nullified.
No.13. Rob Toia (Nudgee)
An outside centre, a position in the XV simply had to be found for him. A damaging No.13, he copped a shoulder injury early but scored two tries and made a huge line break. It was a five-star effort.
No.12. Kaleb Ngamanu (TSS)
The TSS captain was dangerous with a capital D and Churchie supporters were never comfortable when he or his centre partner, Blake Ruaporo, had possession.
No.11. Campbell Watchirs (BGS)
An outside centre, a position in the XV simply had to be found for him and we did this naming him on the wing. Played a captain’s knock in rallying his team from a 69 point first round loss to somehow find a win seven days later.
No.10. Byron Smith (Nudgee)
Beautifully balanced performed by the flyhalf with astute kicking in windy conditions and creative play under pressure from BBC forwards, including Zac Hough in the first half.

ROUND 2 - SIX THINGS WE LEARNED
No.9. Braydon O’Sullivan (IGS)
The IGS halfback was outstanding in his team’s loss to BGS.
No.8. Jock McPherson (ACGS)
McPherson’s follow me performance must surely have lifted his Churchie team mates. He refused to be intimidated and was relentless throughout.
No.7. Joe Liddy (Terrace)
Inspiring Terrace captain who did everything, and then some, in leading his team to its second successive win of the season.
No.6. Dimitrius Williams (BCC)
Lead from the front with some strong contact with and without the ball.
No.5. Daniel Maiava (Nudgee College)
Big. strong running carrier and tough defence, was an enforcer in the forwards.
No.4. Charles Brosnan (ACGS)
Brosnan was mighty in the middle, a pillar on which the ACGS forward effort was built around.
No.3. Xavier Stiles (Terrace)
The son of Terrace old boy and popular Queensland and Wallaby prop Nick Stiles, Stiles scrummaging and general play earned a place in the side - iced by a pick and drive try. His front row mate and fellow try-scorer, Jovid Aveau, impressed with power running and was the first reserve chosen.
No.2. Oahu Davey-Phillips (Nudgee)
Nudgee set piece great and he was an absolute rock in defence, making 25/25 tackles - the most accurate and voluminous tackling performance in some years, plus notched the crucial maul turnover to finish the game. Pipped Toby Weston (Terrace) who made the reserves after Weston twice raked back tighthead scrum feeds, one of which led to PJ Su’a’s match clinching try.
No.1. Jack Spencer (BGS).
Engineered Brisbane Grammar School’s recovery from a 71-5 loss with effort on effort in both the set piece and around the ground.
Reserves: Jovid Aveau (prop, Terrace), Angus Munn (lock, Terrace), Toby Weston (hooker, Terrace), Stuart Tualima (lock, BSHS), Ari Coroneo (lock, BGS), Larzio Sword (centre, ACGS), Blake Ruaporo (centre, TSS), Denzel Perkins (IGS).
