Wallaby coaches, sports presenter set for Youth Rugby Coaches Forum

Wallabies coaches Joe Schmidt and Mike Cron were confirmed to attend the fourth Youth Rugby Coaches forum to be held at Nudgee College on January 31.
Head Australian coach Joe Schmidt and assistant Mike Cron will be joined by Rugby Australia’s national high-performance coach development manager Matthew Wilkie as keynote guests, while rugby television presenter Michael Atkinson (Stan Sport) will host the event.

Founder Sean Graham, the Nudgee College director of rugby, said the forum was designed to engage rugby directors, co-ordinators, and leading coaches from school and club programs “near and far’’.
Aside from host Atkinson, national coaches Schmidt and Cron and Rugby Australia’s Wilkie, guest presenters will include Ben Herring (Newington Director of Rugby, former Otago coach, Nathan Parnham (Brisbane Grammar School- Athletic Development coach and author) and Sean Graham.
Graham oversee’s Nudgee College’s highly successful rugby program, which included another First XV premiership this season.
Graham said the forum would equip key rugby coaching figures at clubs and schools with “fresh ideas, support, and a collaborative platform for school and club engagement from near and far’’.
Graham said the forum would also:
+ focus on supporting and educating coaches;
+ generate discussions on ideas around building community or culture within a school or club program;
+ ways to generate extra revenue to provide the best experience for youth players.
“Youth coaching plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the well-being and enjoyment of our young athletes, both in the short and long run,’’ Graham said.
“As educators and mentors within school and club settings, we recognize the importance of proactively engaging with a broader community to share insights and foster collaboration, transcending local boundaries to uphold best practices,’’ Graham said.
