Water polo Queensland has launched a new, up tempo version of the sport called Polo 5 Metro Competition, and The Courier-Mail will be there to capture all the excitement courtesy of its livestreaming service.
Each Monday and Tuesday night for the next six weeks matches can be viewed on www.couriermail.com.au from 6pm as the water polo community comes out of COVID-19 enforced isolation and gets back into the swing of things.
All the big names from the men’s and women’s Queensland Thunder will be playing, including Queensland-based Olympic squad members Abby Andrews, Tenealle Fasala and Bronwen Knox.

Water polo Queensland CEO Melanie Woosnam said the livestreaming was a “fantastic opportunity’’ for a sport that struggles to gain publicity outside of the Olympic Games or world championships.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to have the sport livestreamed to our members, but also to the broader community so they can see one of our very successful Olympic sports through the digital medium,’’ she said.
“We are very fortunate to be in that position to have it livestreamed and it gives us an opportunity for the sport to receive greater exposure.’’
Executive editor Bryce Johns said The Courier-Mail was out to prove it was more than a news site.
“We cover the state like no one else, and adding a deep streaming service will add more value to subscribers,’’ he said.
In addition to water polo, this week the elite schoolboy Langer Cup and Payne Cup competitions along with the Queensland Schools Premier League football will be livestreamed at www.couriermail.com.au.
