In other results BSHS (6-110) beat TGS (109), Ipswich Grammar (4-244) defeated BGS (134) and Nudgee College (6-238) ran down Churchie (235).
TEAM OF THE WEEK
1. Blake Armstrong (BBC)
Armstrong was outstanding and was the man of the match for his contribution with the bat, ball and in the field. His left arm orthodox spin claimed 1-21 from 10 overs, a remarkable return given 500 runs were scored in a day. He also ran out Dushyant Thaman, snared a catch and scored 65 (67 balls) batting at No.3.
2. Sohaan Sharma (IGS)
The Queensland opener was at the peak of his powers, scoring 83 to set up IGS’s winning performance against BGS. His shot selection was outstanding, defending the good balls but also lofting five sixes and hitting four fours. It was a wonderful performance.
3. Jaxson Davies (TSS)
The dynamic Davies presented a beautifully balanced knock that lifted the premiership bound TSS side to a winning total against BBC. Capable of being a dasher, Davies balanced his innings with attack and defence. He faced 101 balls on his way to 73.
4. Thomas Bayo (Nudgee)
Bayo was the batting enforcer in his team’s dramatic run chase of 235 against Churchie. He locked and loaded on the Churchie bowlers, racing to 73 from 76 balls, and on the way sharing in a match turning stand with Charlie Henderson (58 not out).
5. Tighe Morris (Churchie)
The Queensland junior squad member teed off to score 94 in an innings which deserved three figures. He targeted the short Ross Oval boundaries and went for all he was worth in a performance which took his side to the brink of victory.
6. D’Arcy Satharasinghe (BBC)
D’Arcy Satharasinghe kept delivering the goods for BBC. For once he went the distance with the ball, but fought back hard with the bat (72, 74 balls) to top score for his side. It was another outstanding contribution from one of the players of the season.
7. Sree Shauri Parthiv Bachu (BSHS)
BSHS were in dire trouble when Bachu came to the wicket at 5-55, and his 18 ball cameo for 22 runs changed the momentum of the game, sharing in a vital partnership with David Holmes (26 not out). Bachu also snared two wickets in a lovely performance across the day.
8. Ashton Clark (BBC)
Clark keeps going from strength to strength. The leg spin bowler claimed 3-31 on a day when 500 runs were scored in a day. He kept things tight, built pressure and also struck vital blows with wickets.
9. Riley Eckersley (TSS)
At one stage under extreme pressure from BBC batsmen Satharasinghe, Riley Eckersley held his nerve to claim three late wickets which delivered his side a win by four wickets. In all he claimed 4-45 from his 10 overs, including the prized scalp of Blake Armstrong. He was also involved in a run out.
10. Jordan Hook (BSHS)
Hook made his second Team of the Week of the season with his 3-29 bowling effort that crashed through the middle order of the Toowoomba Grammar batting side. The left arm swing bowler was in great form.
11. Aarush Chandvania (IGS)
Aarush Chandvania produced one of the top three bowling performances of the day, capturing 5-24 from 10 overs to ensure there was no way out for the BGS batsmen. Aarush, a Year 12 student, bowls right arm mediums and has played Firsts all season.
12. Darcy Muckert (TGS)
TGS were battling against the odds, but Muckert proved a disrupter and made BSHS battle all the way to the finish line. His 3-27 almost tilted TGS to an unlikely victory after a first innings batting collapse.
Special mentions
Charlie Henderson (Nudgee)
Henderson’s 58 not out batted his side to victory during a Ross Oval run feast. He shared in the decisive partnership of the match with Thomas Bayo, and then took over the senior batting role to get his side home after Bayo was dismissed.
Max Kahler (TSS)
Kahler joined his teammate Davies in constructing an innings which was good enough - only just good enough - to palm off a spirited BBC. His half century effort was critical to his team winning.
Oliver Harris (BGS)
On a day when IGS peeled off almost 250, Harris was a class above. His spell of 10-2-27-2 was completely against the flow of the innings and he deserves special recognition.
Other special mentions also to:
David Holmes (BSHS)
Charles Hinze (BSHS)
Kethmin Meegasdeniya (BSHS)
Colby Rudd (IGS)
Rushi Kakkad (IGS)
Oliver Dauber (BGS)
Callum Pamenter (IGS)
