Tennis Queensland has allowed the reopening of courts from midnight Friday in line with social distancing restrictions
At a board meeting this week, Tennis Queensland decided courts would be open to limited community play.
TQ president Warwick Nicol said “as long as everyone complies’’ with the standing Federal Government social distancing restrictions, the community could play tennis.
He stressed it would be for community play, not squad training.
The alteration to previous restrictions will happen from midnight on Friday
Nicol said it would be for “one-on-one coaching or court hire (two on a court)’’.
He said the timing of the decision fell into line with other state government restrictions being lifted for the weekend.
“It is about creating an opportunity to be active in a safe environment,’’ he said.
He said it was also a “step in right direction to look after our industry as well,’’ with many coaches having had income reduced during the COVID-19 Crisis.
