Valley spinner Zoha Siddiqi has beaten Queensland’s strict border bubble to produce one first grade cricket’s great debut performances at the weekend.
Just days out of hotel quarantine, Siddiqi claimed 5-21 off nine overs in her Katherine Raymont Shield debut on Sunday - the eighth best bowling figures for Valley District Cricket Club in women’s history at the club.

She is a remarkable young woman who is currently staying at the house of former Australian spinner Nathan Hauritz who has been her personal and on-line bowling coach.
Siddiqi was coached online by Hauritz while she was residing in Sydney, but to further her career she wanted to move to Queensland.
After five failed attempts for a border pass she finally received one, then went through 14 days hotel quarantine before playing at the weekend - and snaring five wickets.where she got out earlier this week. Dream debut for any player let alone given the circumstance.
As a result of her stunning performance, Siddiqi made this week’s KFC Queensland Premier Cricket competition team of the week.
The was also stunning effort from Wynnum-Manly women’s player Makayla Montgomery, who set the Jodie Fields Shield Second Grade completion alight with 8-21 yesterday, closely followed by evergreen Sunshine Coast paceman Ashley Renouf who snared 7-69 in his Alan Pettigrew Shield second grade match.
Renouf, a Queensland and Australian Indigenous player and cousin of Broncos great Steve, continues to impress in a playing and coaching role for the Sunshine Coast.
Other eye-catching bowling efforts came from young Wynnum-Manly quick Jackson Monley who snapped up 6-29 for their Under-19 team’s win.
There were plenty of runs still, with Emmanual ‘Lucky’ Peterson the stand-out innings of the round with a stirring 182 not out for South Brisbane in first grade in their draw with Ipswich.
The Lord’s Taverners competition is reaching its climax, with the Sunshine Coast, Redlands, Gold Coast and Western Suburbs set to contest this weekend’s semi-finals.
