BBC’s best player this GPS basketball season continued his hot run of form with a 40-point-explosion to steer his team past the winners post.

What was most impressive about his performance was the fact not one point came from behind the arc.

Mason Honeyman (Villanova College)

Villa came within three of BBC and leading the charge was Queensland rep Honeyman who notched 40 points.

He splashed six from deep and was a one man wrecking crew.

Terrific trio (St James College)

It wasn’t easy getting past the St James blockade but where there is a Wilson (23 points) there is a way.

Awesome foursome (Mountain Creek SHS Girls)

Defeating All Hallows 94-29, Mountain Creek had a bunch of strong performers. Leading the way was three-point-sniper Mia Byrne who hit seven threes on her way to 24 points.

Not far behind was Maya Winiata (17 points), Chelsea Juan (16 points) and Bonnie Buttsworth (14 points).

Sienna Bourke, Saofaiga Reupena, Peata Manumaleuga and Keriana Hippolite (Marsden SHS Girls)

Their full court press was immense, which allowed Bourke (15 points), Reupena (15 points), Manumaleuga (11 points) and Hippolite (17 points) to cash in on fast-break opportunities.

Rica Chanel Enriquez-Paea (King’s Christian College Girls)

The pressurising Marsden defence caught the King’s girls off guard early, but eventually Enriquez-Paea and Co found their groove and pulled it back in an inspired second half effort.

Enriquez-Paea showed her range with four triples.

Jaya Lowe (Hillcrest Christian College Girls)

Her defence was strong, three point shooting sharp and finishing around the rim near perfect.

Came away with 21 points and a gusty win.

ROUND 2

Theo Hess (Toowoomba Grammar)

After a quiet GPS season, Hess dropped 25 in game one and 23 in game two on day of the CBSQ.

In this game, he drained six threes and had help in James Nugent (13 points), Rahul Captain (16 points), sniper Tyler Saul (15 points) and Sam Geu (14 points).

Julius Wardzinkski (Dabakin SHS)

It hasn’t taken long for Wardzinkski to assert himself as Dabakin’s main man.

After 25 points in game one, he kept hot dropping 17 against a firing BSHS outfit.

Geoffrey Peterson (Brisbane State High)

Blair Williamson and Kynan McMahon (Ignatius Park College)

Hunter Trego and Paul Papacostas (Gregory Terrace)

Trego (26 points) and Papacostas (18 points) gave the talented Marsden Makos no chance when they combined for 44.

Trego was an and-one king while Papacostas dominated down low as Terrace The Brave cruised to a convincing 30-point-victory after only just beating Hillcrest Christian College in game one.

Semika Chong-Nee (Marsden)

He wasn’t as efficient as he would’ve liked but he showed his stunning potential.

With 17 points featuring tough step back threes, corner threes and dribble moves to score in the paint, Chong-Nee made it clear he is an entertainer.

Josiah Trask (14 points) and Coleman Vagana (13 points) also reached double digits in a game where the defence of their rivals was suffocating.

Cooper Adams (Mountain Creek SHS)

In a hard-fought contest, Adams top scored with 30 points.

He sunk three triples to steer his team home.

Cooper Wilson and Jack Woodward (Matthew Flinders Anglican College)

Wilson again punched above his weight with a 20 point game and this time he had help with Woodward throwing in an efficient 24 points.

But BBC, spearheaded by Year 10 student Charlie Hinson, were too strong.

But we knew that already.

Kon Guet (St James College)

The St James big was dominant in the paint and when smashing the glass and it was almost enough to defeat three-peat AIC premiers Villanova College.

Zachary McDowell-White (Villanova)

Helping Mason Honeyman (24 points) capture victory was McDowell-White who had an efficient 16-point game where he showcased a full bag of tricks.

Jaya Lowe (Hillcrest Christian College Girls)

Lowe top scored for the second game in a row with 14, but had held in Jessica Smith (11 points) and Ava Usher (12 points) as Hillcrest took care of King’s Christian College.

Again, Reupena was the beneficiary of her team’s defensive effort.

She ran in 16 points as the Makos ran out to an early lead and had the class to keep it and defeat a strong Mountain Creek side.

Millie Willox, Chelsea Juan and Bonni Buttsworth (Mountain Creek SHS Girls)

The trio worked overtime to eat away at the deficit but ultimately the athleticism, teamwork and hustle of the Marsden girls earned victory.

Willox scored 14, Juan 16 (for the second time) and Buttsworth 12.

Alana Andrews and Amelia Thomas (Varsity College girls)

The two were on a tear from the first whistle to the last, combing for 39 of Varsity’s 74 points.

There was fierce competition in All Hallows’ Sarah Kennedy (14 points) and Scarlett Mercado (13 points).

Julius Wardzinski and Rahid Chowdhurry (Dabakin SHS)

The pair of them scored 48 of their team’s 75 with Wardzinski recording his third consecutive 20-point-game.

Alejo Hutchins (King’s Christian College)

Took the game on with a ferocious approach and got under the skin of his rivals.

He finished with 16 of the best.

Roman Siulepa (Brisbane State High)

It doesn’t matter if he shoots under his best, bank on him finishing with over 30 and a win.

Does whatever it takes.

Carter Waldon and Geoffrey Peterson (Brisbane State High)

Churchie started slow but quickly found their groove when Olechnowicz got to his spots and started knocking them down.

A Year 11 student, Olechnowicz had a soft touch and made Ipswich Grammar pay every time they left him open in front of the hoop because from there he is clinical.
