KFC Queensland Premier Cricket Team of the Week

Who made our inaugural KFC Queensland Premier Cricket Team of the Week? Regularly throughout the season News Corp will name a Team of the Week from grade to Lord Taverners.

Queensland Bulls captain Jimmy Peirson, a WBBL rising star, the daughter of a gun and a Lord Taverners rookie are among those to make our inaugural KFC Queensland Premier Cricket Team of the Week.

Regularly throughout the season www.couriermail.com.au, Ipswich Times and Gold Coast Bulletin will reveal a Team of the Week based on club performances.

Players will be selected from Premier first grade through to Lord Taverners under 16s.

Our initial Team of the Week features a host of well known names, and some not so well known.

Lord Taverners under 16 player Fergus McFadyen played his way into the side with a powerful batting (90 not out) and bowling (4-41) effort, as did WBBL young gun Charli Knot and Georgia Prestwidge.

Fergus McFadyen is the youngest of the McFadyen clan – with swing bowler Noah a rising star in first grade (Norths) having captained Nudgee College in the 2021 First XI.

His oldest brother Connor is one that the Brisbane Lions have high hopes for if he can overcome injuries.

Jack Cooper blistering 134 for Sandgate Redcliffe demanded his inclusion.

He is the youngest of the Cooper brothers - Tom is the Heat player, Ben is in the Dutch World Cup squad and Jack has just switched from Gold Coast to Sandgate.

Hayden Kerr, who scored a century and claimed three wickets for Gold Coast, is a Sydney Sixers player who is starting his season playing in Queensland for the Dolphins. His early form ensures he is on the Bulls’ radar too.

Ipswich talent Harry Wood, the younger brother of spinner Jack, has scored two tons on the trot for Ipswich and had to make our Team of the Week.

WBBL gun Georgia Prestwidge has etched out her own career, but her dad is of course Scott who was a one-day star for the Bulls in the 1990s and 2000s. She made the side after taking three wickets and scoring 44.

One of the best all-round efforts of the weekend was Lucy Hamilton who scored 58 for the Sunshine Coast, and then took 4-24.

Gold Coast players Tara Wheeler (79) and Hayden Kerr (111) played their way into the side, as did Oam Patel (13th man) who claimed 4-19 for Lord Taverners.

An interesting selection as 12th player is Nikhil Chaudhary (Norths) who has come out of the Indian-based local competitions.

He was in stunning form, scoring 98 and taking 3-44.

Peirson simply had to be chosen as first into the side after his 121 (115 balls) for Redlands
