Cricket in Queensland was booming with the Under 15 Girls Southern Challenge unfolding with eight teams vying for championship glory.
On day one of the tournament, Brisbane North U15, SEQ U15, Bears U15 and Gold Coast U15 were victorious in their T20 and One Day clashes and we are here to shine a light on the top performers who helped their side with bat, ball and in the field.

DAY 1 TEAM OF THE DAY
Sage Martin (DDSWQ)
Martin was marvellous opening the batting in a losing effort against Brisbane North.
She hit 28 from 36 balls and was a shining light for her side.
Deepika Bogahawatta (Brisbane North)
Bogahawatta showed her experience playing against women in the Queensland Premier Cricket competitions with her outstanding 40 run effort against the new ball.
Matisse Easton (Brisbane North)
Easton, like Bogahawatta, was all class opening the batting.
She scored 30 from 42 and shared in a 100-run-partnership.
Sarah Traynor (Brisbane North)
Traynor scored a quickfire 31 off 26 batting at No.5.
She hit five fours and was in attack mode from the outset.
Reniesha-Rub Rony (SEQ)
Rony topscored for her team with 42 runs.
She faced 63 balls and hit just two fours, showing that she was willing to work for her runs.
Lauren Patterson (18,21 balls) and Paige Simpson (21,23 balls) had nice cameos.
Chelsea Sonter (Bears)
The elite opening batter scored 50 from 53 in a classy knock which sounded alarm bells across the competition.
Abbie Trevethan (Bears)
Trevethan could not be stopped. She hit three fours and six on her way to a half century, which came in just 28 deliveries.
Rebecca Storrs (29, 33 balls), Jessica Cremin (34, 23 balls), and Aarcha Gautham (27*, 15 balls) all came to play in a statement win by the Bears.
Lili Markou (Gold Coast)
Markou (31, 30 balls) batted No. 8 for the Gold Coast and top scored with a run-a-ball effort that was monumental in her side’s batting innings.
Corey Ross (Gold Coast)
Ross was boss in her three wicket effort which dismantled the Wide Bay middle order.
With the help of her skipper Alvina Rauf, the Gold Coast had Wide Bay all out for 76.
Ayaka Stafford (Bears)
Stafford (8-4-10-3) was rewarded for her pressure bowling with three wickets which came late in the game.
She was on the money, proven by her bowling just one wide and leaking just 10 runs in eight overs. She also scored 25* in a big win over MSW.
Evie Baker (Sunshine Coast)
Baker was brilliant at the bowling crease, snaring four wickets in six overs.
She and Peyton Meredith (three wickets) were the Sunshine Coast’s most threatening bowlers against SEQ.
Sofia Velic (Brisbane North)
Velic was deadly with her fast bowling, which earned her three wickets in just four overs.
She had help in Abigail Burgess (two wickets), Lara Dowsett (two wickets) and Lilly Rosengren (two wickets).
