Who has made our QAFL 2022 Team of the Month? We named the top 18 players of the season so far - plus interchange players. All revealed here.

It is a grand old lady of Queensland sport, a wonderful competition that fills suburban grounds and keeps local footy land healthy and happy.

The QAFL is off and running for another year, with four games having been run and won.

Palm Beach Currumbin and Broadbeach were unbeaten, while Redland-Victoria Point has amassed an outstanding percentage in its start to the season.

So who have been the players to make the season tick across the opening salvos of the competition?

Here we name our Team of the Month following a vigorous opening to the competition.

TEAM OF THE MONTH

Full forward: Matt Hammelmann (Redland-Victoria Point)

He has given the side a great target deep and despite a quieter game last weekend, was outstanding in the first two matches.

Half forward: Seb Rogers (Noosa)

Playing midfield, half back and half forward, Rogers has been strong at the clearances and provided a target when forward due to his strong contested marking. He has also been a consistent ball winner in the opening four games.

Half forward: Sam McLachlan (Maroochydore)

After missing round 1, McLachlan has been exceptional with his ball winning and booming right boot.

Centre half forward: Connor Stackelberg (Aspley)

With a quick lead and great hands, he has been a valuable asset for the Hornets with his accurate kicking.

Wing: Kailem Baker (Redland-Victoria Point)

His workrate each match has been impressive both in defence and attack. He wins plenty of ball for a wingman..

Wing: Kelly Castle (Morningside)

Playing as a midfielder, Castle has taken his game to another level this season after moving from a small forward role into the action. We have squeezed him into our Team of the Month starting side on the wing.

Ruck: Will Wolbers (Aspley)

Big and strong, Wolbers has proved a handful for opposition’s rucks.

Centre/ruck cover

Brandon Chadwick (Broadbeach)

Chadwick has been tough and skilful for the premiers this season.

Luke O’Sullivan (Mt Gravatt)

A noted high work rate player, O’Sullivan has displayed great leadership this season while winning a lot of contested possession.

Ryan Banks (Aspley Hornets)

Banks has demonstrated strong running with a high work rate for the comeback kings of the league, Aspley.

Hamish Covan (Maroochydore)

A tough in and under player, Covan has been in Maroochydore’s best afield group across the opening weeks.

Blake Ericson (Broadbeach)

The hard running midfielder never ceases to display his class for Broadbeach.

Centre half back: Liam Jones (PBC)

Palm Beach Currumbin’s Liam Jones has been tremendous controlling the air.

Half back flank: Dan Fleming (Maroochydore)

With silky skills and possessed with great decision making, Fleming has created a lot of drive off the half back.

Half back flanker: Toara Marango (Sherwood)

Centre half back Marango has been an excellent competitor over the first month of the competition, brilliant in reading the high ball around the oppositions forward half. He has intercepted many contested marks and turned defence into attack.

Backmen:

Jackson Bury (Maroochydore)

With his clean skills and electric pace, Bury has been outstanding across the early rounds for Maroochydore.

Lucas Turner (Broadbeach)

Lucas “Jellyman” Turner has been a hard running defender who never wastes the ball.

Fullback: James Gledhill (Broadbeach)

Gledhill has played on three power forwards and has won his position each week.

Interchange:

Keegan Downie (Morningside)

Downie has displayed great flexibility playing both ends of the ground and is having an impact when required in front of goals in attack - or defence.

Ben Thomas (Maroochydore)

He has been playing as small forward. Thomas has nine goals in three matches and is proving to be quick, evasive and accurate in front of goals.

Reece Toye (Aspley)

Toye has been a tenacious competitor with run and bounce in the midfield.

Brock Aston and Caleb Franks (Redland-Victoria Point)

The midfield pair have been outstanding for their side. Franks impresses with his work rate around the stoppages while Aston has been Mr Consistent, good on the inside and outsite.

Ryan Pickering (Broadbeach)

In his second season of senior footy, the rookie ruckman is developing nicely and has had a great start to the season.

Scott Miller (Redland-Victoria Point)

Miller has been consistent in all three games with his one on one work and his hard running.
