1. FLYNN SOUTHAM
We told you about this boy two years ago and he has arrived with a bang and a crash.
From Bond Uni, he won the freestyle treble, with his 100m freestyle (48.60sec) beating Kyle Chalmers’ 2015 national under age record (48.69). This fellow is swimming Olympic times right now, so watch him to push for a place in the Paris 2024 Games squad – and the Aussie Dolphins later this year and next year.
2. HANNAH CASEY
What is in the water at Mt St Michael’s College? How on the feels of Tokyo rely sensation Meg Harris sweeping to three medals, a 15-year-old called Hannah Casey is following in Harris’ footsteps.
From the Marist College Ashgrove swim club, Casey is a physie not unlike Cate Campbell which is ironic – given her 100m time is second only to Cate Campbell (53.30) after winning the 100m in 54.30.
She also broke the Australian record for her age group in the 200m freestyle (1:58.49).
3. KACI CURTIS
Originally from the beautiful Fremantle region of Western Australia, the South Lake Dolphins junior is now embedded in Australia’s No. 1 swimming club – St Peters Western.
Coached by Andrey Pianca dos Santos, she won an extraordinary six gold medals across 13 years backstroke and freestyle events, and claimed a second place in the 50m butterfly just for fun.

+ 1st 400m freestyle 4:11.72
+ 1st 800m freestyle 8:40.43
+ 1st 1500m freestyle 16:52.90
+ third 100m free 56.05
Weber achieved her first placing in the 1500m under the duress of illness, but pushed that aside to win. Remember the name, Amelia Weber.
5. IKE MARTINEZ
Coached by Tim Dilger and Damien Jones at Rackley, the St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace student had a huge All Ages, winning the 15 Years 200m butterfly, the 800m freestyle, 100m butterfly and was second in the 200m freestyle.

Queensland has a proud tradition of producing high class backstrokers and Ammundsen is holding up her end of the bargain.
7. SOPHIE MARTIN
The St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School student rose to the occasion on the big stage – again. In the gruelling 200m IM (16 years), the Tim Lane coached (Somerville House) swimmer was first, along with gold in the 100m breaststroke.
Martin also got a cheeky 50m freestyle gold, and then second in the 400m IM.
Disrupted by injury earlier in her career, Martin is back in the big league in a big way.

She won the 200m Butterfly, the 200m Freestyle and the 50m Butterfly.
10. BENJAMIN GOEDEMANS
The Iona College student knocked the dam wall over on his way to winning 17 years 800m, 400m and 200m freestyle events. From the (Acacia Bayside) where he is coached by Michael Lewandowski, Goedemans was one of the swimmers of the meet.

17. KAI GILBERT
Coached by David Thomas at TSS, Gilbert pushed through the pain barrier to win the 14 Years 1500m, and then had a nice bonus with victory in the 200m freestyle. He was also second in the 800m freestyle and also in the 400m freestyle.
