Following Queenslanders outstanding performances at the All Ages nationals, Hannay Casey, Flynn Southern, Kaci Curtis, Amelia Weber and Ike Martinez (TAS) and Olympia Pope were about those who flew the country flag highest.

Competition was so intense that someone like Milla Jansen swam 54s in the 15 years 100m – and was third.

We present our top 20 performers from the All Ages performers, and list all other medallists.

ALL HALLOWS WIN CaSSSA

1. FLYNN SOUTHAM

We told you about this boy two years ago and he has arrived with a bang and a crash.

From Bond Uni, he won the freestyle treble, with his 100m freestyle (48.60sec) beating Kyle Chalmers’ 2015 national under age record (48.69). This fellow is swimming Olympic times right now, so watch him to push for a place in the Paris 2024 Games squad – and the Aussie Dolphins later this year and next year.

2. HANNAH CASEY

What is in the water at Mt St Michael’s College? How on the feels of Tokyo rely sensation Meg Harris sweeping to three medals, a 15-year-old called Hannah Casey is following in Harris’ footsteps.

From the Marist College Ashgrove swim club, Casey is a physie not unlike Cate Campbell which is ironic – given her 100m time is second only to Cate Campbell (53.30) after winning the 100m in 54.30.

She also broke the Australian record for her age group in the 200m freestyle (1:58.49).

3. KACI CURTIS

Originally from the beautiful Fremantle region of Western Australia, the South Lake Dolphins junior is now embedded in Australia’s No. 1 swimming club – St Peters Western.

Coached by Andrey Pianca dos Santos, she won an extraordinary six gold medals across 13 years backstroke and freestyle events, and claimed a second place in the 50m butterfly just for fun.

4. AMELIA WEBER

She beat an 800m record by the great Hayley Lewis earlier in the year and Weber continued to perform with distinction in the girls 16 years age group.

A middle distance swimmer coached by Richard Sleigh at St Peters Western, Weber had a huge meet:

+ 1st 200m freestyle 1:58.97

+ 1st 400m freestyle 4:11.72

+ 1st 800m freestyle 8:40.43

+ 1st 1500m freestyle 16:52.90

+ third 100m free 56.05

Weber achieved her first placing in the 1500m under the duress of illness, but pushed that aside to win. Remember the name, Amelia Weber.

Queensland has a proud tradition of producing high class backstrokers and Ammundsen is holding up her end of the bargain.

7. SOPHIE MARTIN

The St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School student rose to the occasion on the big stage – again. In the gruelling 200m IM (16 years), the Tim Lane coached (Somerville House) swimmer was first, along with gold in the 100m breaststroke.

15. PIPER ASQUITH

It rained medals for this Tom Fraser-Holmes-coached athlete at Griffith Uni, with the 14 years talent winning the 800m freestyle, but who finished second in the 200m IM and 100m freestyle.

16. TARYN ROBERTS

It was great seeing Roberts again hoist the Rocky City flag high and mighty at the All Ages, with the Rockhampton-based swimming getting the job done in the 15 Years 400m Individual Medley and 200m Breaststroke.

20. GIDEON BURNES

It was a case of double trouble for opponents of Burnes. The Bond Uni swimming crashed to victory in the 16 Years 200m and 100m Breaststroke, much to the delight of coach Kyle Samuelson.

SPECIAL MENTION

BIANCA RAYWARD

Another Gold Coast girl, the David Thomas-coached Rayward enjoyed a medal of every colours – winning the 14 Years 1500m freestyle, then finishing second the 200m freestyle and third in the 800m freestyle.

ROBERT THORPE

The Aussie ocean swimmers did his best work in the 17 Years 1500m freestyle. But the Dean Boxall-Maxine Seear coached distance swimmer also claimed third in the 400m Individual Medley.

JOSHUA CONIAS

Conias had big meet, with the Tim Lane coached Somerville House swimmer winning the 50m freestyle, finishing second in the 100m Freestyle and third in the 200m Freestyle.

MILLA JANSEN

It is not easy being a 15 years sprinter in that age group when you have a colossus like Hannay Casey. They were doing 54s (sececonds) for the 100m in that age group - and finishing third which is remarkable. This kid can sprint even if she did not finish with gold.
