Australia’s last remaining hope in the men’s singles tennis has bowed out in a gutsy performance against fourth seed Kei Nishikori.
John Millman was leading during the first set, which went to a tie breaker where he also held a 4-0 lead at one point.
But, Millman’s dream Olympic debut ended in a 7-6, 6-4 loss to Japan’s Nishikori on Tuesday morning.
The Aussie’s Olympic Games campaign may be over, but he has rewritten history in his first round match, becoming the first men’s singles tennis player to win 6-0, 6-0 at an Olympic Games.
