Kedron SHS progressed deeper into the senior female AFLQ SEQ Streetsmart Schools Cup with a quarter final win today over Marymount.
Kedron won 7-11-53 to 1-2-8 and will play in the semi-finals, all to be livestreamed via www.couriermail.com.au, the Gold Coast Bulletin and via News affiliates.
Livestreaming will continue with A bumper 10 match schedule on Tuesday.
Kedron SHS coach Ross Clayfield said it was a wonderful competition for the school teams to be involved in.
“I am super happy with the way the team went, and they were just wrapped to get on the field and have a bit of fun with their mates,’’ Clayfield said.
“It is a terrific competition. Being a part of Q-Cup since day one, we have seen it grow every year and the number of schools involved is fantastic and it is something the girls value.’’
Marymount coach Cameron Francis the competition was “going from strength to strength each year’’ and he was delighted Marymount was a part of its growth.
“We are really proud. All four teams (from Marymount) have never been to this point before, the quarter finals, and just to get to the quarter finals is a proud achievement for Marymount.’’
Yesterday Marymount’s senior boys won, while the college’s two junior sides will be part of Tuesday’s quarter final livestreaming.
Teams will be playing for the right to compete in the semi-finals and grand finals next month.
A record more than 600 teams competed in this year’s Schools Cup, with the creaming rising to the top.
