The brother of a Wallabies walk-in headlines the round six StoreLocal Hospital Cup club rugby Team of the Week after he scored two tries in University of Queensland’s 51-20 victory over Souths last weekend.
Scrumhalf Flynn McDermott, the brother of Reds co-captain and Wallaby Tate McDermott, scored two five pointers in the Red Heavies 31 point home win on Saturday, one on each side of the half.
At Yoku road, a skirmish unfolded between GPS and Wests with home side GPS moving up to third on the ladder.
The Gallopers pulled away from Wests 36-19, the visitors losing Mason Gordon to the sin bin and then Mosese Dawai late in the second half.
Outside centre Shaun Anderson had one of his best games for GPS in recent years, sparking a memorable Hammond-Taylor Shield success.
The Shield is named after club stalwarts Wally Hammond and Alby Taylor.
At Sunnybank, Easts recorded their second win of the season 35-25 on the back of a Zac Crothers double.
At Crosby Park, Livewire scrumhalf Will Cartwright scored the dagger for Brothers, who won 38-27.
The game was in the balance with the Brethren leading 31-27 on the cusp of time, and of course it was Harry Grant and Cartwright combining to land a telling blow.
The reigning premiers (22 points) had taken No.1 billing on the Hospital Cup ladder, two points in front of Wests (20 points).

+ After six years at the club, Flynn McDermott relished his run on debut with two tries and a handful of turnovers. He had been playing in third and second grade previously this season;
+ Bullsharks speedster Hamish Roberts keeping his hot streak going scoring three tries at Crosby Park;
+ Shaun Anderson finding his best form in a tense clash at GPS;
+ Brothers sniper Benn Dalle Cort kicking five-from-five conversions and sinking a 70th minute penalty to help put Bond University to bed:
+ Brad Twidale’s boot adding 16 points to University’s tally. He is named at flyhalf;
+ Tough flanker Nick Baker stepping up to the plate in a physical clash club rugby punters would have paid money to see. Baker and Gicquel versus Victor Olaaiga and Bradley kelegai was prime viewing on Saturday afternoon;
+ Souths tighthead Phransis Sula- Siaosi putting in a monster shift in a losing effort.
