St Joseph’s Nudgee College will carry the motto “Doing The Work’’ into season 2020 when the GPS rugby competition starts with trial matches on July 25.
Director of rugby Sean Graham said the squad would pride itself on not cutting corners as the group looks to climb over the top of rivals in a tight competition and be in the running for the premiership when the whips are cracking late next month.

“We pride ourselves on doing the work and trying to work harder and smarter than our opposition; we don’t cut corners and we focus on being neat with our core skills,’’ Graham said.
“We expect this year’s competition to be tight and that each week will present a new set of challenges which we look forward to.
“But we expect to be well prepared for each game and for our boys to be competitive in every match. ‘'
Last season, in a blanket finish, Nudgee finished third behind TSS and BBC.
Seven players from the 2019 campaign will return this season, while 12 members of the unbeaten Second XV is also in the top squad of 35.
Also thrown into the mix is a handful of 16-year-olds.
One of those returning players, Lastus Auakai, was expected to be a spearhead.
With a strong carry and a lethal step, Auakai was expected to challenge opposition defences in a variety of ways.
