A young cricketer good enough to play Sheffield Shield or BBL cricket was the final day star for Norths who captured yet another first grade premiership at the weekend.

Norths claimed its nineth red ball premiership against Ipswich, and capped a bumper first grade season which saw the club also snare the one day and T20 titles.

Norths junior Noah McFadyen took the new ball in Ipswich’s second innings and captured seven wickets as Ipswich went to the tonk, batting aggressively to try and offset Norths commanding advantage at the halfway point of the Bulls Masters decider.

McFadyen’s right arm swing bowling proved too hot to handle and capped another fine summer for the Nudgee College old boy who was originally from the Wilston North club.

Also a hard hitting lower order batsman, McFadyen has so far gone without Shield or Big Bash exposure but through sheer weight of performance, those milestone moments will surely happen as his career unfolds - whether it is here or interstate.

There are times when the handy Australian football junior plays second fiddle to Will Prestwidge and Connor Sully, but his presence would be a great comfort to the North’s leadership group.

In our day 3-4 coverage, McFadyen gets three votes. Other votes from that final, and all the lower grade finals, can be found below.
