Mabel Park SHS coach Ben Weston will hand Donte Tahuhu-Wilson his Langer Trophy debut as both his side and combatants Wavell look for more consistency in their game.

Tahuhu-Wilson, Mabel Park’s best reserves player in three matches this season, will challenge the Wavell defence with vision and fleet-a-foot skills.

The Mabel Park and Wavell Langer Trophy clash will be available live and exclusive on KommunityTV from 5pm, with the Walters match kicking off the action from 3.45pm.

He adds attack to a potentially imposing Mabel edge attack which includes centre ace Dean Tauaa and second rowers Majah Peachey DJ Talaepa.

That edge formation gives Mabel Park a real semi-final look.

“I am pleased with the wins against PBC and Stretton, and our defence in particular,’’ Weston said.

“But I am disappointed with our performance against Keebra, so I am just looking for more consistency.’’

Consistency was also a theme for Wavell coach Paul Stanley.

Wavell have a 1-2, win-loss record, but they produced the best performance by a side against a rampant Keebra Park SHS when they lost narrowly in round 3

“I thought our goal line defence was great last week against Keebra Park,’’ Stanley said.

“Most of our focus has been on our defence and we will need to be strong again this week as Mabel Park are very good with the footy.’’

He said more consistency was needed in attack.

“We have been letting ourselves down at different times with our decisions with the football.

“We’ve challenged our spine players to set our team up for success with the footy.
