A 45-year-old woman has been found dead at a unit in Annerley, on Brisbane’s south side, overnight.
Officers were called to a unit on Franklin St about 9pm, when the woman’s body was found.
Police say a 53-year-old man known to the woman is helping with inquiries.
Neighbours said they didn’t know the woman well and that they heard no noise last night in the lead up to the body being found.
Residents of Franklin St said they just woke up to police crews outside and all they knew was a body was discovered.
Neighbour Deseray Allam who has lived in the same unit complex since 1992 said it had been quiet in the area until police arrived.
“I didn’t hear anything the night it happened,” she said.
“I didn’t know them.
“I stayed away.”
Another neighbour said he was shocked to hear of the death.
A crime scene has been declared and investigations to determine the cause of death of the woman are ongoing.
Police forensic units have since left the scene, with officers remaining to guard the unit.
