Something of a mini-boom is coming to upmarket Taringa in Brisbane’s inner-west, with half a dozen separate boutique projects floated since December alone.
A car showroom next to Toowong Mazda (which is in Taringa), 10 townhouses on Union St, nine three-bed units at Beatrice St, another apartment project in Marmion Pde and a block-splitting application on Stanley Tce have recently been lodged with Council.
In the latest development plans to go before Council, CJM AUS Investment applied earlier this month to build a five-level, 47-unit landmark apartment block on the corner of Stanley Tce and Moggill Rd.
Three houses on the 2666 sqm site at 3 Stanley Tce, 101 and 105 Moggill Rd will be removed, even though the area is in a traditional character zoning.
The building includes a rooftop pool, deck area with sun beds, pergola, outdoor dining and subtropical landscaping with sweeping city views.
Taringa property values have skyrocketed in the past year, with the median house price now more than double the state median at $1.225 million.
Median prices for units are $449,000, but the suburb is dotted with multi-million-dollar apartments.
Designed by Red Door Architecture, the Stanley Tce project would have parking for 110 cars spread across two basement levels and ground level, 43 three-bedroom units and four four-bed units.
“The development positively contributes to the streetscape with high quality architectural excellence and subtropical landscaping...’’ planners Town Planning Alliance said in the development application (DA).
“There is) substantial landscaping within the rooftop and along the perimeter of the rooftop to create the appearance of a green roof.’’
Consultants PMP Urbanists said despite the large carpark the development would add only add 14-15 extra car movements in peak periods.
