A flashy inner-city hotel has revealed plans to open a new sushi restaurant in Brisbane’s fast-growing Fortitude Valley precinct.

A development application has been submitted to Brisbane City Council for material change of use to open a food and drink outlet at The Calile Hotel at 46 James Street, Fortitude Valley.

The hotel building is already currently home to four restaurants, including Hellenika, sAme sAme, SK Steak and Oyster and Bianca.

Brisbane-based architecture firm Richards and Spence outlined plans for the “sushi restaurant” project in application documents.

It shows the proposed development would include a two-storey restaurant with a total gross floor area of 224sq m.

Documents show the proposed outlet would be located on the ground floor of the Calile Hotel and mezzanine level, which currently includes existing retail space, and would result in an increase of 56sq m of floor area with the proposed mezzanine level.

Plans show the developer does not propose to alter the existing approved and constructed building floor levels.

Other details of the proposed new restaurant remain unclear at this stage with The Calile refusing request for comment at this stage.
