A Starbucks is one of two new buildings that’s been proposed to go up at the site of an abandoned car yard near the Moorooka train station.
The development application for the drive-through coffee outlet, located on 1115 Ipswich Rd, was lodged by Madluce Pty Ltd with Brisbane council this week.
The company’s proposal is looking to divide the 2885sq m lot up and build a Starbucks on one side and a two-storey “low impact” industry shopfront on the other.
“It is disclosed that in lodging this application that the proposed food and drink outlet is for
a purpose built Starbucks with a drive-through facility,” the document read.
“Starbucks have expressed a strong interest in establishing an outlet in this location, demonstrating demand for the use, with the use serving existing inbound traffic along Ipswich Rd and catering for the wider industrial area.”
The subject site is made up of seven lots, located on 1115 Ipswich Rd, Moorooka.
The site has a total combined site area of 2,885sq m and frontages of 41.251m to the northwest side of Ipswich Road and 95.876m to the northeast side of Unwin Street.
The site is generally flat and clear of structures, with a large paved area established over
most of the site, associated with its previous use as a car yard.
