PASTOR Phil Cutcliffe is swapping pews for politics and adding his name to the ballot for the state seat of Jordan.
The Springfield Christian Family and Westside Community Care founder today announced his intention to independently run in the unannounced state election.
“I just feel really lead that this is something I’m meant to do,” Ps Cutcliffe told Springfield News before making the announcement.
“I always felt that maybe I should be a local councillor, and over the last few years I started really pondering that, but I would only run if someone was retiring.
“Then (the state election) came up and I had so many unusual people in different positions ask me to consider running.
“My heart is for the people … I would love to make a difference.”
Ps Cutcliffe has lived in Greater Springfield for 22 years with his wife Julieanne and their four children.
“One of my dreams is always to be a good father — a father to my own children but also to the community,” he said.
Ps Cutcliffe will host a community gathering at Spring Lake Hotel from 6.30pm on Saturday evening with guest speaker Liz Cunningham.
Ms Cunningham is a former member for Gladstone and will speak of how an independent candidate can make a difference in a community.
Donations to Ps Cutcliffe’s election campaign will be accepted on the night.
