During last Saturday’s First XI match against traditional foe St Joseph’s Nudgee College, all 11 batsmen carried bats featuring a lime green grip with black and red trips.
The bat grips would be sold throughout the season, with funds directed toward Tweedy’s on-going care.
College director of cricket Blair Copelin said green was prominent on the batting grip because it was the colour of spinal awareness, while the red and black tip represented the college colours.
“It is a small initiative and a way we can contribute to the on-going costs associated with such an injury,’’ Copelin said.
Copelin said 300 grips would be sold during the remaining cricket season, but the idea may evolve and be expanded in 2020.
“The total profit will go to the Tweedy family,’’ he said.
