Students from the elite Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association schools will resume sport in Term 3, July, following an easing in the COVID-19 crisis.
In a statement on the QGSSSA website, the association announced hockey, netball, tennis and volleyball would start “with minor modifications to the schedule’’.

The association said round 1 fixture had been cancelled to allow team selections and trainings in the first two weeks of Term 3 ahead of the season starting in late July.
“The 2020 Rhythmic Gymnastics competition, has been cancelled due to the shortened time frame for preparation and the safety concerns and associated risks to participants and spectators gathering in large numbers in an indoor facility,’’ the statement said.
But track and field athletics would run, as planned, in September.

“Term 4 sports of badminton and junior softball will also run as scheduled.
“As one of the Association’s largest participation sports, QGSSSA will investigate the possibility of conducting competition for touch football in Term 4 for Years 7-11.’’
The association stated that while fitness sessions for up 10 people in a group was now allowed there would be no sport specific trainings or team selections permitted at the moment.
