A star has been born in BBC’s Xavier Savage, a first year border from Cairns who dominated track and field at the recent GPS championships.
Savage, who earlier this year showed great promise as a rugby union outside back, won the 16 years 100m, 200m, long jump and was second in triple jump.

“He is one of the most natural athletes I have seen for some time,’’ said BBC’s world renowned jumps coach Eric Brown.
“He is easy to teach and absorbs information easily. He is big and strong. He has potential to go a long way.’’

Savage, who ran the 100m in 10.52sec said his move from North Queensland to BBC had been good.
“It has been a good change coming from a small town and I am glad I made the move,’’ said the past student of Trinity Bay State High in Cairns.
Earlier this year he played in the BBC Firsts, having not previously played rugby until his arrival in Brisbane last year.
