Police are searching for a man after an elderly woman was pushed to the ground and robbed of her handbag in a southwest suburb on Monday morning, July 15.

A police spokesman said initial investigations indicated that the woman, in her 70s, was approached by an unknown man about 6.30am on July 15.

She had been walking along Pannard St in Darra when the man allegedly pushed her to the ground.

Police alleged he then stole her handbag, which contained personal items.

The man left the scene in a white vehicle and headed north towards Monier Rd, they said.

He was described as being of thin build and was wearing a light-coloured hoodie-style jumper and light-coloured long pants.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police appealed for anyone with vision in the area during this time, or information that could assist with investigations, to contact them.
