STATE MP for Mount Ommaney Jess Pugh has welcomed US bakery giant Cinnabon’s planned opening in her electorate at Mount Ommaney, but says they will have plenty of local competition.
The first four Australian outlets, purveyors of the self-proclaimed ‘‘world’s greatest cinnamon roll’’, will face plenty of friendly competition from existing small businesses, she said.

Ms Pugh already revealed a sweet tooth with her support of another local business 17 Rocks Chocolate, which was named a major winner in the Mount Ommaney Small Business Awards last week.
Ms Pugh and the Centenary and Districts Chamber of Commerce are major sponsors of the awards
She said Cinnabon would be a welcome addition to next year’s awards competition.
“We’ve just had the awards and it seems news of the awards has reached all the way to the USA and Cinnabon have decided they’d like a piece of the action,” Ms Pugh said.

“I wish them the best of luck, they will certainly be up against some stiff competition in the franchise category for next year’s awards.
“Bring on the 2020 awards.”
The Mount Ommaney store was announced last week by the Queensland family company Bansal Group.
The company has already advertised for store managers to get the plans rolling.
It appears the outlets will be kiosks at major shopping centres and at least one is scheduled to be up and running before Christmas.
The locations have been revealed as Nundah, Chermside, Mt Gravatt and Mt Ommaney.
