The new stores already announced include Sunlit Asian Grocer, Cincotta Discount Chemist and a BWS outlet, as well as renovation for Indooroopilly Fruit and a new central location for Indooroopilly Florist.

Indooroopilly Shopping Centre general manager Dean Baker said the upgrades were already in progress and would hopefully be partially complete by Christmas.

“Work is now underway to upgrade the fresh food precinct situated on level 1, outside Woolworths and Coles, with completion of the ambience works prior to Christmas this year, followed by additional tenants,” Mr Baker said.

He said the changes would provide a more comfortable shopping experience.

“The ambience upgrades will provide customers more comfortable places to sit, eat, and relax in a Queensland inspired design.

“We are committed to improving the retail experience for our customers and continuing to give them compelling reasons to visit Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.”

The shopping centre hoped to minimise disruption to shoppers by completing the upgrades at night and giving advanced notice to tenants when work during opening hours would be required. Indooroopilly Florist owner Shauna Larsen said her shop has already moved as a result of the refurbishment.

“Indooroopilly Florist has relocated to a central mall position to allow for the inclusion of even more new and exciting shops,” Ms Larsen said.

“Indooroopilly Florist has been part of the precinct for over five years and we look forward to the upcoming development with excitement.”

H&M Brisbane opening

The centre underwent a $300 million revelopment in recent years with added about 30,000 m2 of new retail space.

The site hit headlines throughout 2016 and 2017, when it lost 30 retailers in eight months. It came after the centre battled a retailer revolt after more than 110 store owners and managers joined a movement to oust centre management in 2016 in an effort to fix the centre’s parking woes and encourage shoppers to return to the problem-plagued area.
