BIZARRE posters showing a stolen fibreglass sheep with a garbage bag over its head have outraged the statue’s owner.
Jo-Anne Longland returned from an overseas trip last week to find the fibreglass animal had been stolen from her paddock on Moggill Rd at Bellbowrie.
The posters began appearing on bus stops across the western suburbs showing the sheep with a plastic garbage bag over its head with the words “Help!!! I’ve been kidnapped!!!!!!!!!”
Ms Longland was furious when images of the kidnap posters appeared on social media.
“It’s definitely our sheep. They’ve got a plastic bag over its head but the cowl’s the same,” she said.
“We got one of the posters today and gave it to the police. (The thieves) are being a bit bizarre. It’s like a terrorist thing.”
Ms Longland bought the sheep from Melbourne three years ago, and its disappearance prompted an outcry on social media from people angry at the theft of the local landmark.
The sheep was a fixture on Ms Longland’s property and would be moved to a different position whenever they mowed.
“The posters are apparently at a lot of bus stops,” she said.
“They think it’s funny, but it’s actually criminal.”
Ms Longland said she just wanted her sheep back.
“Just stop being ridiculous. It’s criminal what they’re doing. It’s not funny.”
