A Morayfield man has been killed in a motorcycle crash at Springfield Central just hours before the start of the New Year.
Police Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating the single vehicle fatality which happened around 6.45pm.
They said the 33-year-old rider was travelling east on Sinnathamby Boulevard approaching University Drive when he lost control of his bike and hit a tree in the centre median strip.
He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he died a short time later.
