A BOOT from a German soldier is just one of the pieces of war memorabilia in an exhibition to pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of Anzac Day.
Brookland Village resident Lorna Rodgers said the boot was souvenired by her father-in-law during his time in Palestine during WW11.
The boot is just one of many pieces of memorabilia that will be on display at the Robertson-based retirement village’s Anzac — 100 Years of Service exhibit next month.
More than 20 residents and staff at Brookland have contributed close to 100 items of memorabilia.
Brookland Village marketing manager Sue Fallon has displayed her grandfather’s bible.
The bible is inscribed with a note to both her grandfather and father, who carried the holy book to WWI and WWII, respectively.
“The exhibit is a good way to acknowledge what they did for Australia and for that, I’m eternally grateful,” Ms Fallon said.
“Because of the 100-year anniversary, a lot of people are aware of Anzac Day but it’s the personal stories you don’t know about until you delve into them.”

The exhibit will also feature music from wartime band the Mon Che Quartet, a reminiscence theatre and a “home front” canteen.
Anzac — 100 Years of Service will be held at Brookland Village, 18 Romulus St, Robertson, from April 21-24.
The exhibit will be free and run from 10am-3pm daily.
