He is two wins away from taking one of Queensland Rugby League’s most famous clubs to their sixth premiership.
But while he prepares for his biggest game of the season, an Intrust Super Cup preliminary final against the Tweed Heads Seagulls, Wynnum Manly Seagulls coach Adam Brideson has been recognised by the bayside sporting community.
Brideson, who took over the team ahead of the 2017 season, has been voted as Wynnum’s best coach after an impressive four seasons in charge.
During those four years, the former Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs NRL forward has taken the Seagulls from the bottom half of the ladder in 2017 and 2018 to a grand final appearance in 2019 and a preliminary final this year, continuing the successful legacy of Wynnum Manly.
Current Seagulls captain Sam Scarlett said Brideson was a special leader.
“I think just how he gets the best out of everyone individually is what makes Brido (Brideson) so special as a coach,” he said.
“Like he understands how it all works because he has been a player at a high level when he played for the bulldogs.
“So he sets a high standard for himself as well as us so you don’t want to let him down because he is so heavily invested.”
Brideson is also a former first grade captain and FOGS Colts coach for the Seagulls, who also spent time working in the Brisbane Broncos Under-20s program.
The Seagulls play Tweed Heads for a spot in the Intrust Super Cup grand final on Sunday at 12.15pm at Suncorp Stadium as a curtain raiser for the NRL grand final.
