Millions reinvested into the community and more than 70 jobs injected into the local economy.
The approaching relaunch of a major Brisbane leagues club following a historic $10 million revamp couldn’t come soon enough after the struggles arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently going through its biggest facelift in its 41-year history, the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club’s redevelopment is on track for total completion in April after starting in February last year.
Work on the famous Kougari Oval, the home of the Wynnum Manly Seagulls, was finished in last June while the new cafe, bar and foyer/reception is expected to be complete by the end of February following by the lounge area in late March.
WMLC CEO, Craig Thomas, said the revamp would not only give the bayside another quality entertainment venue but also provide a huge boost to the local economy.
“The club has been actively employing local talent in customer service roles with already just under 20 new staff members employed over the last few months with more to come,” he said.
“We anticipate with new areas opening and the overwhelming positive feedback we continue to receive about the renovations, we will be employing an additional 50 staff to ensure our patrons expectations are exceeded every time.”

Mr Thomas said the club continued to grow in membership despite closing for several months due to COVID and also with the venue becoming a construction site over the past year.
“Our members have been very patient during the renovations, we can’t thank them enough,” he said.
“Our membership base continues to grow, and we can’t wait to unveil the new areas to them.”
