A booming bayside CBD is set to welcome a tasty new addition as it continues to build its reputation as on of Brisbane’s hottest retail and entertainment strips.
Wynnum Kebabs, Burgers and Shakes will open its doors at 135 Edith St on November 10 as it joins the long list of restaurants and more than 25 new businesses to move into the area over the past 18 months.
Created by owner Sid Ahuja, the restaurant will serve authentic Greek-style kebabs as well as a variety of burgers and shakes and will be open until late seven days a week.
Mr Ahuja said there aim
“Wynnum is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Brisbane with lots of younger families looking to buy property in the area,” Mr Ahuja said.
“People of Wynnum definitely love their food and there were not many options for burgers and shakes in the area and also surprisingly there’s not many restaurant and food options that are open late in the area.
“One thing we noticed on our first visit to Wynnum was how close the community was to each other.
“Imagine on a Friday night watch rugby with your mates and you’re craving a burger, a HSP and a dessert – currently there is not many options but that disappointment will soon disappear as we’ll be open until midnight on weekends.”
Mr Ahuja said there was a drastic change in where people went for food after Covid and he believed this allowed businesses in areas such as Wynnum to thrive.
“Since Covid, we have seen a huge increase in the number of people choosing to go the local pub or a restaurant compared pre-Covid era, where people preferred to go to the CBD, South Bank or the Valley,” he said.
“This definitely gives an opportunity to local food retailers to grow and serve the people with good quality food.”
The launch of the latest Wynnum restaurant comes almost eight months after the historic Wynnum Cinema opened in late February, which has sparked the entertainment scene on the waterfront suburb.
