Timothy Peter Sullings: Ric’s Bar MDMA dealer sentenced in court

A young Brisbane man supplied up to 30 party-drug capsules to undercover cops at a time, a court has heard.

A young man from Brisbane’s southside supplied undercover cops MDMA capsules on three occasions, selling a female officer 30 capsules for $550 on one occasion.

Eight Mile Plains man Timothy Peter Sullings, 21, pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court on Tuesday to three counts of supplying a Schedule 1 dangerous drug.

The court heard the MDMA capsules were supplied to police officers on February 15, February 20 and May 19 last year, twice at popular Fortitude Valley nightclub Ric’s Bar and once in a public place at Kangaroo Point.

On February 15, the undercover officer approached Sullings’ co-accused Bipanpreet Deol, an unlawful citizen who has since returned to India, and asked him for MDMA.

The court heard Deol allegedly told the officer he was “too hot”, but had “other boys working for him”.

He directed her to Sullings, who provided her with five capsules containing 0.209g pure MDMA for $100, according to court documents.

The documents stated that the officer then asked Sullings for a larger amount of capsules the following week. Sullings gave her his number via encrypted messaging app Signal.

The officer contacted Sullings on February 19 asking for 20 to 30 capsules.

He responded that it wouldn’t be a problem, but that he was unable to offer a discount for the bulk purchase because he got “ripped off when he reloaded this week”.

The officer bought 30 capsules for $550 the next day when Sullings entered her vehicle at Kangaroo Point.

The capsules contained a total of 1.934g pure MDMA, the documents stated.

Two other undercover officers then attended Ric’s Bar on May 19, where Deol again directed them to Sullings.

Sullings sold them five capsules, containing 0.352g pure MDMA, for $100.

During this period, in a matter previously dealt with by the Brisbane Supreme Court on October 28 last year, Sullings was discovered with a commercial quantity of MDMA (defined under legislation as greater than 2g) at a Spring Hill address on April 19, 2019.

For that offence, he was imprisoned for two years with immediate court-ordered parole.

On this occasion, Judge Craig Chowdhury in effect extended Sullings’ parole by sentencing him to 12 months’ jail with immediate parole.

Judge Chowdhury recognised the three supplying dangerous drugs charges should have been sentenced alongside the previous charge.

He told the court Sullings had “clearly turned (his) life around” after he was charged with the offences.

However, he said Sullings’ operation “clearly had some commercial aspect”.

“It’s one thing to be using it (drugs) for yourself, but when you’re selling it to others you’re spreading misery,” Judge Chowdhury said.
