School principal addresses children’s death after tragic news

The school community at Belmont State School is reeling from the horrific scenes of this morning’s fatal car fire at Camp Hill where two of their students died in the tragic incident.
School principal Lisa Morrison sent out a letter to all parents this afternoon saying the school community was “deeply shocked and saddened” and the school had provided support to students and staff touched by the tragedy.
She said counsellors would remain on hand this week to provide support to the school community.

The three children of Rowan and Hannah Baxter, Laianah, Aaliyah and Trey, perished in the tragedy, which took place metres from the children’s grandparents’ house at Raven St, Camp Hill.
Hannah Baxter is in a critical condition in hospital with “significant burns”, police have said.
In a letter to parents, Belmont State School principal Lisa Morrison said the school community was deeply shocked and saddened by the death of the students.
“The school community’s thoughts and sincere sympathies go out to the family, caregivers, friends and loved ones of the students during this difficult time,” Ms Morrison said.
“Support is being provided to students and staff who require it, and counsellors will remain on hand to provide support to the school in any way they can and for as long as it is needed.”
