Works begin on $10m leagues club revamp

Works to build The Jungle Adventure Play centre at 31 Proprietary St in Tingalpa started in August and, despite some minor delays, children should be able to give the new venue a test run when it opens in early 2020.

The centre, which is a 6000 sqm space in total but 3000 sqm under roof, was a dream three years in the making for Wynnum couple Jana and Lachlan Walker, who thought of the idea after attending a bunch of children’s birthday parties.

“We were just going to a lot of birthday parties and events like that which were at different parks and play centres and we thought about creating a play space like this and we just loved the idea,” The Jungle Tribe director Jana Walker said.

Mrs Walker said the aim of the new centre was about more than just giving children the best facilities to play in.

“Within the centre, our indoor play attractions are designed to help children build confidence and strength while still remaining challenging and fun,” she said.

“We have ensured that there are a wide range of different opportunities providing an experience for every age group while parents are able to relax in our fully licensed cafe and restaurant knowing their children are safe.

“We cater for crawlers through to the biggest kids of all.

“We have sourced adventure play experiences from around the world and brought them together under one roof in Queensland's largest indoor centre.

“The whole idea (of the centre) is to have kids learning, playing, getting stronger and building confidence. Teamwork, leadership skills are being developed meanwhile co-ordination and strength so simple things like holding a pencil can be achieved.”

Mrs Walker said they planned to open in mid to late February if everything went to plan.

“There were some delays in the works as far as just waiting for some things to get here but hopefully we can open at the planned time in February next year,” she said.
