The mystery winner of a $2.2 million Keno jackpot has been revealed, after huge speculation about the identity of the person with an unclaimed bayside leagues club entry.
The massive Classic 10 Spot jackpot prize, drawn last Thursday, went unclaimed for days, sparking huge interest in the mystery winner.
A Hamilton man has now come forward after confirming he had bought the winning entry in draw 852 at Wynnum Manly Leagues Club.
The club’s manager said it was the biggest prize of any kind won by someone at the club “for years and years’’.
“There’s been a lot of talk about it among the patrons. A big win like this always sparks interest in Keno,’’ he said.
The Hamilton man, who did not want his identity revealed, said he was still living in a “state of complete disbelief’’.
He said he had yet to make firm plans but it would “open up new opportunities’’ for him and his family.
“This is still pretty surreal and fresh. I don’t even know how to feel,’’ he said.
“I’ve been playing these numbers for years now and just constantly roll my entry over.
“It’s won little prizes here and there, but I just about collapsed when I realised I’d won the 10 Spot. What do I do now?
“I haven’t been able to fathom what $2 million will mean for my future and my family, but it can only be good news.
“It’s just going to open up some amazing avenues for my family.’’
In 2023, Keno players across the eastern states of mainland Australia celebrated more than 67.31 million wins, collectively worth more than $1 billion.
