Body found after man jumps into waters off Manly marina
Police have found a body after searching for a man who failed to resurface after jumping into the water at Manly Harbour overnight.

The CEO of the yacht squadron overseeing a marina near to where a man jumped into waters before being found dead said staff had reached out to the man’s wife after the “incredibly sad” incident.
Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron CEO Karen Baldwin said her team has spoken to the wife of the man this morning, and that staff had not known the nature of the events of last night until hours after.
“It’s a very sad event,” Ms Baldwin said.
“Because it was late at night there was no staff on site except security patrols.
“We didn’t find out until the early hours of today how serious the nature of the incident was.
“There’s not a lot we can say at this stage.
“This is meant to be the time of year where people are festive and with each other.”
Police found a body after a search operation was launched for a man who failed to resurface at Manly Harbour overnight.
The 46-year-old man entered the water from a vessel in an attempt to retrieve an item about 10.50pm
The man reportedly surfaced once before returning to the water but failed to resurface a second time.
Water Police, Police divers and other specialist emergency services commenced a water search overnight.
This morning, a body was located in the search, and will now be formally identified and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
There is no further information at this time.
Emergency service crews were last night called to the scene at Davenport Drv, Manly at the marina near the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.
Police, fire and rescue and ambulance were all called to the scene last night and water police, police divers and other specialist emergency services commenced a water search this morning.
It is the second major incident in bayside waters within a week after three people died when their boat flipped in Moreton Bay near Green Island during a Boxing Day fishing trip.
