Jericho Jesse Harvey, 31, fortunate to avoid indecent assault charge for alleged ‘appalling’ behaviour

A court has heard a man who allegedly targeted a teen in public could expect to find out what it feels like to be allegedly molested in remand should he breach his bail.

A 31-year-old bayside man whom police allege grabbed a 16-year-old girl’s buttock and told her she had a “nice a**e” has been told by a magistrate he could get some of his own (alleged) medicine should he end up in remand.

Appearing at Wynnum Magistrates Court on Monday, Jericho Jesse Harvey, of Wynnum, vowed he would not commit any more alleged offences going forward.

Mr Harvey faces a string of charges that include common assault, two counts of committing a public nuisance, obstructing police and wilful damage.

it’s alleged an intoxicated and shirtless Mr Harvey targeted a 16-year-old teen on December 17.

He is accused of bodily picking her up without her consent, grabbing her buttock and telling her she had a “nice a**e”, before commenting on her bra and following her.

The defendant faced the real prospect of being remanded to the dock given the alleged offending occurred while on bail.

Defence solicitor Sacha Mackness acknowledged that her client’s alleged behaviour “was appalling”.

Mr Harvey told the court he was having a “bad day” and vowed to abstain from alcohol.

Magistrate Zachary Sarra said Mr Harvey was fortunate to not have been charged with “indecent assault” for his alleged “targeting of children”.

“You end up in the lock-up and you’ll know what it is like to have your a**e grabbed,” Mr Sarra said.

“You don’t have any right to touch anyone, unless they consent, let alone someone’s child.

“Now if you think it is okay to get on the drink and pick these girls up, you are heading for trouble.”

Mr Sarra enlarged the defendant’s bail and ordered that he report three times a week to police.

“Each time you go to the police station you can say to yourself, ‘that’s right, I can’t (allegedly) grab children on the a**e’”.

‘“That’s right, I can’t get on the drink.

‘“That’s right, I can’t go molesting people.”’

Mr Harvey is next scheduled to appear before court on April 26.
