Brisbane’s iconic Victory Hotel could soon become the latest venue to join the city’s rooftop bar revolution as part of development plans to revamp the CBD's oldest pub.

The application for the heritage-listed venue, owned by property investment and development company Precision Group, was submitted by Victory Hotel Freehold on January 2.

The planned redevelopment of the watering hole, which has been one of the most popular pubs since it was built in 1855, will be headlined by a rooftop bar and new balcony/veranda area.

Works to cater for the expansion the venue will also include the demolition of some parts of the Victory, refurbishments of current areas of the hotel and beer garden and other minor details as part of the submitted plans.

The development application comes after The Victory closed briefly when long-term leaseholder ALH Group decided to call it quits.

It then reopened a month later under the management of Michael Dixon’s Athena Group.

Mr Dixon told The Courier-Mail in March, after signing a long-term lease, the group had plans for a major development at The Victory and were committed to creating a landmark development that will serve as a cornerstone for Brisbane’s revitalisation.

Precision Group’s leasing executive Rory O’Brien also said in March, following Athena Group taking on the lease, that their focus was on “creating a world-class destination while preserving the heritage of the site”.

If the plans go ahead, The Victory would become the latest rooftop bar across the CBD and Fortitude Valley after a recent boom in these types of venues following the opening of Soko, Sunsets and many more.
