A new events centre is the latest addition to a shopping precinct in the heart of Brisbane’s bayside as the owners cap-off a multimillion-dollar revamp of a centre previously owned by an Australian celerity.
Hambros will launch the latest edition to the bayside entertainment scene when they open The Lou Lou Room inside the Wynnum Shopping Centre at 82 Bay Terrace tonight.
The new venue comes after a raft of recent changes at the precinct since Hambros bought the centre in 2018 from famous Australian businessman Mark Bouris.
The changes saw the previous play centre turned into the Bayside Event Centre but the owners changed plans after welcoming in several new tenants, such as Services Australia, and expanding Anytime Fitness – which left a smaller vacant space, around 230 sqm, in the middle of the precinct.
Justin Ham from Hambros said The Lou Lou Room was the perfect addition.
“The Lou Lou Room is a space for events, live music, functions and special occasions like hens and bucks as well as birthdays,” he said.
“The concept of the space is like Willy Wonka and Alice in Wonderland for adults.”
Mr Ham said the space will be a licensed venue, have the ability to trade until 2am and use food from both the Waterloo Bay Hotel as well as Pepes Mexican Restaurant.
He also said they were proud of what the centre had become since they bought the precinct five years ago.
“A lot of hard work has gone into the centre from 2018 by revamping the building, supporting existing tenants and encouraging new tenants like City Cave, Wynnum Health Hub, Anytime Fitness and the Bayside Hand Clinic.
“Over 3500 sqm of area is now rented, making it the pinnacle of standard for the area.”
But Mr Ham said they were not done bringing new spaces to the bayside suburb.
“The Lou Lou Room is the first of two Waterloo Bay Hotel group event spaces opening this year,” he said.
The Lou Lou Room will be launched at a community opening tonight.
