One of Brisbane’s iconic pubs will celebrate its 100th year with the launch of a revamped venue after a mega $7 million upgrade from an Australian hospitality giant featuring 50 taps, five bars and up to 50 extra jobs.
Works are in full swing at The Manly Hotel on Brisbane’s bayside as part of the renovations after The Endeavour Group took over the venue in 2021.
The group signed a 50-year following the departure of the McDonald family, who spent 51 years as the publican’s for the hotel.
A significant revamp was on the cards immediately after the takeover from Endeavour, a group with already more than 330 venues across Australia under their banner — and they have delivered.
The Endeavour Group owned brands such as BWS, ALH Hotels, Dan Murphy’s and more.
Renovations started in March last year with works scheduled to be complete in late March or early April this year.
When finished, the new and improved venue would feature 54 taps across five bars, a full service restaurant with an a la carte menu, terrace dining, a courtyard, sports bar, more than 20 rooms of accommodation, a gaming room and a bottle shop.
Manly Hotel venue manager Antoinette Simic said a renovation was needed after the Endeavour Group’s acquisition of the pub, but they also wanted to give back to such a loyal community.
“I’ve been here and managed other venues in the bayside area and this venue has such a community following and is really the heart of the community,” she said.
“Everyone has been all over our social media (during the renovations) and customers are really invested in the venue being successful.
“There’s a huge interest in what we’re doing and where we’re going, it’s been an overwhelming response.
“It’s almost like a buzz and energy within the community that Manly is getting that attention.”
Ms Davis said their vision was to make sure members of the community felt part of the historic venue.
“I think we’re trying to be really inclusive and bring the community with us on the journey,” she said.
“When, as a venue, you’re so important and been such a family-based venue, it’s important to continue with that.
“Let’s enjoy and celebrate a revamped venue in Manly.”
Ms Simic said they had also started the recruitment process for the extra jobs the “mammoth” project had attracted.
