HYPE continues to build around Brisbane’s bayside and in the Redlands as a Queensland Rugby League powerhouse returns to the state’s showcase event trying to add another piece of silverware to the club’s proud history.

Politicians are decorating their offices in green and red colours, fans are scrambling to secure tickets and baysiders are pouring into the offices at the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club trying to buy merchandise for this week’s Intrust Super Cup grand final at Redcliffe’s Dolphin Stadium.

The Wynnum Manly Seagulls are in a grand final, where they will face the Burleigh Bears, for the first time since winning the second of their back-to-back premierships in 2012.

With one of the biggest supporter bases in the competition, Dolphin Stadium could become a second home for the famous Chook Pen with tickets in the Wynnum Manly Supports Bay already sold out and general admission tickets also expected to be exhausted.

While the hype, as expected, was growing around the bayside, it’s also growing in the Redlands with both the Redlands Rugby League and Capalaba Rugby League feeder clubs to the Seagulls along with Beenleigh and Wynnum Manly Juniors.

For Redlands, Jayden Clarkson, who recently signed with the Canberra Raiders will be in action for the Australian Schoolboys against New Zealand while Brock Richardson will captain the Wynnum Manly Colts in the grand final, which will also feature Will Parslow and Reece Hoffman.

“We’re very excited for Sunday and there’s a lot of excitement around the club as well,” Redlands development manager Troy Clarkson said.

“Not only because the Seagulls are in the grand finals but because we have a few players featuring on the day as well.

“It’s great for us because it gets other juniors at our club excited because it shows there’s a genuine pathway.”
